I don't know that I would have chosen to watch this movie on any other day, but when I got home on Sunday I started to scroll through the AMC schedule to see if I could catch a movie. I told myself that if there was a show around 4 or 4:30 that I would watch that. I saw that there was a showing of this at 4 and it was a Q&A, too! With Kate Gersten and Brenda Song. I've been wanting to go to one of these Q&A events, but they're always full by the time that I see the showing. This one wasn't though! Actually, let me correct myself, they're either full or if they're not, the seats available are not my preferred seats. This one had a spot right in the middle at the very top of the bottom section. I have to laugh because I said if I found a show at 4 or 4:30, and here was a show. I've been wanting to attend a Q&A event, and here was one. I'm particular about my seats at the theater, and here was a favorite spot of mine. And still I hesitated before actually booking my spot. I'm glad that I ended up going, though.

The story was interesting. It centers around a small group of coworkers, friends, and family. You know how those titles end up mixing and becoming irrelevant as time passes? That's what happens here where each character has a title in relation to one another, but the relationship they have are deeper than any single relational title. Anyway, Shelly, Annette, and Eddie are the oldest in the group. They've been working together in Vegas for a long time and we enter right when their thirty-year-old show gets shut down. Oh man. Honestly, it was difficult for me to really get into the story. I was having my own personal issues, dealing with a tension headache because of my wisdom teeth extraction and my contact kept going in and out of focus. But something about the dialogue - I was fully in it one moment and then completely out the next. I did like the overall story, though. I think I can understand the vision and it really is beautiful. By the end of it I wanted the story to get to the end, but I didn't actually want it to end. I liked the characters and who knows maybe I'll still be curious about how they're holding up in a few years from now. It ends with the final show with no indication of what's next for the girls. I hope they remain friends and I hope that they continue to find happiness in their next chapters.
